Hands Behind the Makers
Hi there
Thanks for joining me at Little Cove Living. For those who don’t already know me, I’m Mandy and I’m a Mum, wife and full-time employee at a Research Institute. I’m also a small business owner and the creator of Little Cove Living. Life is a little chaotic sometimes but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Travel through Southeast Asia was the driving force behind Little Cove Living. After settling down with my family on the picturesque Sunshine Coast, I realised there was a connection between my coastal living experiences that I needed to share with those around me. I got busy turning these experiences into a business and Little Cove Living was born. It’s now my creative outlet and a way for me to express a passion for home and lifestyle pieces, infused with fond memories of travelling around the globe.
Little Cove Living supports the Indonesian cottage industry and I'm so proud to have great connections with some incredible artisan makers in Indonesia, particularly women from remote villages of Bali and all the way up to Yogyakarta. Many of the makers we work with are female, and it’s just one of the reasons why showcasing their talent to my customers around the world is so important. I love supporting people who create things with their bare hands, and the fact these people are women makes it just that little bit more special. #girlpower
The point of difference at Little Cove Living is our uniqueness; our products are small batch, not mass produced. In fact, no item you see online is ever the same. This is because they’re all made by hand and it's the tiny variations in each product that makes them bespoke. So, if the colour of your raffia cushion differs slightly from the next, consider it uniquely yours. No one else in the world has that cushion!
We’re committed to supporting a circular economy at Little Cove Living, striving to use only natural materials where possible. Think materials derived from the earth that celebrate the raw beauty of the world we live in. These are materials like raffia, rattan, linen, recycled cottons, bamboo, renewable timbers and stone. Not only are they more environmentally conscious, they’re striking when intertwined into home décor (particularly against a white wall!)
Our home in Noosaville means we’re also surrounded by plenty of talented artisan makers who source and craft their wares right here in Australia. The sunshine and the beach draw much of the inspiration for each piece I hand select for Little Cove Living. The makers from the Sunshine Coast are just as much in love with coast outdoor living as I am and together, they help complete a collection of artisan products I’m very proud to share with you.
We’ll be showcasing individual makers online as the year goes on, so don’t be a stranger. To give you a little sneak peek into the creativity that takes place in Indonesia, watch the video below. It’s an insight into the incredible talent behind our makers and a taste of what’s to come.
Until then
Mandy
